In the time after The Black, human survivors of the Southern Claw Alliance clash with vampire legions of the Ebon Cities in a constant war for survival. Earth as we know it has been forever damaged by an arcane storm that fused our world with distant realms of madness and terror. Things that once existed only in our nightmares stalk the earth.

Now, humanity is threatened by one of its own.

Eric Cross, an enlisted warlock in the Southern Claw military, is part of an elite team of soldiers and mages in pursuit of a woman known as Red -- a witch whose stolen knowledge threatens the future of the human race. The members of Viper Squad will traverse haunted forests and blighted tundra in their search for the traitor, a journey that ultimately leads them to the necropolis of Koth.

There, in that haven of renegade undead, Cross will discover the dark origins of magic, and the true meaning of sacrifice...

GUST POST

What goes through your mind when writing your character Eric Cross? Do you ever envision yourself as your characters for inspiration?

I think when I first started writing Eric I tried not so much to envision myself as I tried to just see things from his perspective.  I tried to take a ground’s eye view of the war, of the conflict, of being thrust into dangerous situations without feeling like you’re prepared and having to deal with all of this tremendous pressure.  Part of that, I’m sure, is what I was feeling as a writer at the time, knowing that for the first time I was planning to put out this work that people everywhere would see and understanding that it would be scrutinized and criticized, and that really freaked me out, so in a way that put me in Eric’s shoes.
The deeper into the story I got, the more I realized I was putting a lot more of myself into Eric than I’d intended.  I tried to imagine how I would carry on in these situations, how I would react, and while I’m certainly not saying I’d be anywhere as brave or resourceful as Cross I do think that self-doubt, that fear and that hesitation he feels, especially in the first book, are fairly indicative of what I or anyone would feel under those terrifying circumstances.  As the books develop and Cross grows I tried to develop him into a much more heroic figure, but he’s still nagged by those same insecurities and doubts, which I think is pretty natural.  We grow, we develop, we overcome, but even the strongest of us are still nagged by the same worries and fears we had when we were still developing, even if we manage to suppress them a bit.
So far as the other characters go, I think a little bit of me goes into each of them, but I also try to keep everyone distinct from myself as much as possible, because that allows me to explore their personalities and challenge myself to see things from their perspective, which forces me to develop their characters better since the best way to learn about someone is to observe them in a pressure situation they might not be comfortable in.

Review:

I honestly adore Helen's earlier work, so I've become accustomed to what she's written, so while I read this book and got to the steamer parts of it id often forget that one of my favourite authors had written this. Id instantly turn red and say to myself holy crap who knew she had this in her. I'm not a newbie to the world of NA for I love Abbi Glines books, but still I was very shocked, but in a good way.
This novel proves that while she may have written YA that she can and has the capability to write different genres, beautifully so. It's so fluid and well put together it almost seemed easy for her to just switch. Her character's are so entertaining and exciting that you can't help but love Alex for her fieriness, Connor for his cool demeanour that melts you and for Elle's outrageous personality that seems so catchy.
I loved every moment of this novel, it's something new yet it's so very easy to fall in love with.  The plot will have you hooked and on the edge of your seat to see what will happen next. It's a must read for any type of reader out there. I honestly applauded Helen for her bold and brave move to write this amazing novel.
I cannot wait to see what other written works she will throw our way and I know for certain I will be willing and waiting to devour any and all she has to write. This book deserves so much more then five stars, it's a breath of fresh air and brilliance. So why don't you take a walk on the wild side and partake in a little bit of Sin ;) who knows you might just enjoy it.

Congrats Helen on this amazing piece of work :)

Happy Readying :)

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

*wipes tear stricken face* Picking up this book I knew it was going to make me cry, but I didn't understand the depth of the heartbreak one would feel after finishing it. It's been a very long time since a book has completely shattered my heart into a billion microscopic pieces. I guess it's true what they say "pain demands to be felt"  and it was felt!!

This book was tragically beautiful, I think everyone should read Hazel's and Augustus's story to see and appreciate what they have in life. It's touching in ways many books aren't, yes it's fiction but its realistic fiction, this could happen. I think that's why its so very powerful and moving, it truly captures your heart right from the start.

It will have you laughing through your tears, it will leave you feeling inspired and thankful. This is a masterpiece, an all consuming powerful read. John Green is one hell of a writer! I applauded him for his ingenious. Brilliantly moving I have no words for how truly wonderful I think this book is. It has become one of my favourite books of all time now.

I will have a book hangover now for a long while now hahahah Just take a chance on this book, just be prepared to have a box of tissues with you!!  Let your heart be filled until it can no longer withstand the roller-coaster of emotion that will be felt!!

Just say Okay!!

happy reading!!

AUTHOR BIO
Helen Boswell loved to get lost in the pages of a story from the time she could sound out the words. Originally from upstate New York, Helen spent much of her early adult life tromping around in Buffalo, NYC, Toronto, and Las Vegas, those cities now serving as inspiration for the dark and gritty urban backdrops of her stories. An author of both urban fantasy and contemporary romance, she loves to read and write characters that come to life with their beauty, flaws, and all.

Helen dedicates her time to raising her family of two boys, teaching college students, and of course, writing.

Author Interview enjoy :)

Q: If your characters could describe each other after one day of knowing each other, what would they say?

A: Connor would describe Alexis as a spitfire – sexy and saucy, and with an attitude.

Alexis would describe Connor as an ass. LOL.

Q: Why Las Vegas? There must be more less sweltering places to vacation in the summer. :-)

A: Vegas is the perfect setting for this story because everyone goes there for different reasons. Connor’s had to do with escaping his past, Alexis’ was tied to her dad’s love of gambling. I actually spent a lot of my own summers in Vegas, and yes, you get fried as soon as you step outside. But that’s what the pool is for.  ;-)

Q: Will we see Alexis and Connor again?

A: Yes, but as secondary characters. The next novel in this series will be Elle’s story, told through her POV alternating with a male POV. #nospoilers as to who that is going to be. As drama unfolds, Elle will of course be interacting with her best friend and her cousin, so Alexis and Connor will be back.

Q: Losing Enough is your debut NA novel. Prior to this, you’ve written two YA novels. Which do you like better?

A: Okay, hard question…. Because I will always love my YA male main character Micah, first and foremost. Yes, he came out of my head but he also serves as my muse (if that even makes sense). But I love the extent of emotional development that characters can have in the NA genre in those coming-of-age moments., so I really do enjoy writing NA a bit more than YA (don’t tell Micah).

Q: Biggest dream?

A: NYT bestseller list and seeing one of my stories adapted to TV or a movie. But seriously, just being able to write more and reaching out to readers.

Q: Favorite writing food?

A: Chocolate. And more chocolate. (Isn’t that a given?)

Q: Greatest weakness in a guy when admiring from afar?

A: Eyes. And you’ll see what I mean when you meet Connor. Or Micah, for that matter. :-)

Q: Some recent NA reads that you’d recommend?

A: The Untamed Series by Victoria Green and Jinsey Reese #TeamDare, Masquerade by Nyrae Dawn #TeamMaddox. I loved these stories, and as you can tell, I’m very character-inspired. :-)
